John McDonald joined Exro technologies as CEO when the company formed in 2005.

John’s career path began in sales, and fueled by an entrepreneurial spirit, he has since led several successful ventures. Over the past 20 years, John has built and sold a number of companies in industries spanning across North America and Australia ranging from manufacturing, commercial building services, and software as a service, to most recently driving a restructuring in the global resort real estate sector. If there were a repeating pattern in John's business career, it would be the ability to dig into a new industry and see where it is heading, devise an innovative strategy for building value and architecting a liquidity event.

After completing the business cycle in various markets, John sees a shift to more sustainable energy and a solution to the carbon challenge as two of the most important responsibilities of our time. “In my mind, there is nothing more meaningful than helping the world achieve an energy abundant and carbon free future.” Many, many years ago, John studied marketing and sales management at the University of British Columbia.
