Exro Technologies Inc.

Exro Technologies Inc. is bringing to market an “Alternate” Energy Generator that represents a curve-shifting approach to generating electrical power from renewable energy, such as wind, tide, run of river, etc. This new technology, called the “Variable Input Electrical Generator” or VIEG (pronounced “veej”) promises to have a positive material impact on the economics of renewable energy.

Applications

The VIEG’s inherent flexibility makes it very attractive to the military sector, as its closed flux geometry offers the potential for non-iron components, thereby reducing its radar signature. The VIEG’s small size and smaller radar footprint, as well as its ability to harness alternate energy efficiently, create an interesting opportunity in this small but high margin market.

TIDAL & WAVE POWER

Tidal energy is a largely untapped renewable energy source with huge potential for electricity generation. The challenges for traditional generators with this resource are effectively managing the high torque and low speed rpm that tidal power presents when sending energy output to the grid. Existing systems need to accommodate for these challenges with the use of massive and complex gearboxes, which are expensive. Exro’s Variable Input Electrical Generator (VIEG) on the other hand, could electrically and intelligently control the output produced by tides and waves to accommodate output to the grid without the need for complex gearbox geometry.
